The Haida wore red or yellow cedar bark clothing. Women wore skirts and capes, and men wore long capes. They made their clothes water resistant or soft. They also occasionally put in mountain goat fur for decoration. They took the inner bark of cedar trees and soaked it, then wove together the fibers. A chilkat blanket is a highly prized cape, that has stories woven into the fabric, in many colors. They were objects that reflected great wealth.
